International Racing Products is the US importer for Swift-Cooper Racing Cars of England. The history of Swift cars goes back nearly 20 years, making Swift one of the oldest producers of formula cars in the world. For 2000, the Swift is an entirely new design.

Swift Tig-welds chrome-moly steel for their chassis to make an incredibly rigid yet light structure. The current design uses double wishbone/pushrod configuraton operating horizontally mounted shock absorbers in front and vertical shocks in the rear. Swift uses variable-rate bellcranks to allow a wide range of chassis tuning. The cockpit is larger than previous cars so that it will accommodate larger, taller drivers. Suspension is mounted with shear brackets for energy absorbtion and ease of repair. And the complete aerodynamic package is not only beautiful, but very low drag.

The Swift design staff has placed appropriate attention to safety. Wishbone fittings are outside the chassis, and the front lower wishbones are fitted with anti-intrusion slip-joints. The SC-2000 also has a composite honeycomb nose box to absorb loads in the event of impact. A 2.5 Kg fire system and 6-point driver restraint system are standard.

The Swift is available in Zetec (European), Kent 1600 or Continental 2000 configuration depending upon which class you wish to compete. Base price for the Continental is $35,995 for the rolling chassis. The Kent is $32,995. All cars come with the best components, including Hewland LD-200 gearbox and Lockheed brake calipers. Turnkey cars are available from IRP.

The new Swift incorporates meaningful technological advances, such as pushrod suspension, inboard springs and shocks operated by adjustable bellcranks and a small frontal area for reduced drag.

This is a 1983 Van Diemen 1600. The original (and ugly) Van Diemen bodywork has been replaced with a Crossle body, but the rest of the car is pure Van Diemen. The main roll hoop has been replaced so the car complies with roll-hoop height clearance for taller drivers. As shown in ths picture, it has rockers operating the inboard springs/shocks. Shocks are Koni adjustable. There are some spares with the car, including a rear upright, and a few other pieces. There are four BRAND NEW Goodyear rains on a set of Compomotive rims.

The Hewland Mk IX gearbox was inspected, and looks very good. The car comes with four spare gears.

I replaced a front lower wishbone because it had a ding in it. Front rockers were fine. I turned the rotors and replaced the front pads with Hawk HB-117 (black) pads.

The cockpit has a Momo wheel with quick release. I added an oil pressure warning light to go along with the gauges. The rear anti-roll bar adjusts via the knob on the left using a teleflex cable and blades at both ends of the bar.

This show shows the placement of the Crossle radiator. Battery is located behind the radiator, and there is an aux battery plug in the engine compartment.

The engine compartment is clean, and the car has an oil cooler. I put on the fresh ITG filter and base to replace an old unit. Carb is fully race-prepped.

This 1983 Van Diemen is a remarkably clean, straight car. The original Van Diemen bodywork has been replaced with a sleeker, more attractive Crossle body. The frame shows no sign of damage or repair, which is extremely unusual for a car this age. The car includes Koni adjustable shocks, brand new mounted rain tires on Compomotive rims, fresh belts, new windscreen and many, many more details. Asking price is $8,500.
